Exotic Care
WE ARE NOT SEEING AVIAN, AMPHIBIANS OR REPTILE
PATIENTS AT THIS TIME. While we search for a new veterinarian
to care for those patients, we are recommending Drs. Herman
and Gillespe at All Pets Hospital (www.aphsf.com).
IPH is happy to provide care for all of your
animal companions! Rabbits, rodents, ferrets, and other small
mammals require special care and we are here to help you keep
exotic friends healthy and happy. We are proud providers of
House Rabbit Society members and provide free first exams for
Animal Care and Control and shelter adoptions.
Annual
exams provide you with a basic understanding of
your pet’s general health and provide general husbandry
information. For new animals with other health issues we can
provide routine lab-work or other diagnostics with usually one
day turnaround.
Traveling with your pet? Check out our link to
travel information for international regulations
http://www.aphis.usda.gov/vs/ncie/iregs/animals/#E and for domestic air travel call us to schedule a
Health Certificate Exam.
Unable to provide care at home for your pet
while you are away? For exotic animals we recommend keeping
their environment stable while you are away and having someone
stay at the house (for birds who need a lot of attention) or
come in to care for them once or twice daily. For special
needs animals, ones that are sick or require medical attention
on a daily basis, we can care for your exotic animal here at
the hospital.
Proper nutrition is very important to your
exotic animal! We provide herbs and supplements recommended by
your doctor and Harrison’s Bird food for a healthy diet.
Critical care food is also available for your sick exotic
animal.
